oh!Blog:
This chandelier, “Mediteranneo” was designed after the theme of jellyfish, so it changes colors and moves and even makes scent of ocean!
Although i have been trying to disrespect the high-tech chandelier projects, i love this one that it is so witty and brilliant yet so beautiful and elegant!

… For those that could afford these new electric lights there were a variety of styles to chose from…
The photographs below, taken from Robert Hammond’s book The Electric Light in our Homes, 1884, show how rooms could benefit from this new lighting technology. For example, … the chandelier, in the second photograph, directed the light onto the dining table where it was needed. This also had the benefit of having individual lamps that could be turned off singly or as a whole depending on the atmosphere one wished to create.

This hardy chandelier will bring an unexpected touch of alfresco decadence to any backyard.

The Guardian:
Difficulty 2/5
Time 3 hours
Materials
· Sculpture or armature wire
· Silver-coloured craft wire
· Coloured beads
· 8 small, clean glass jars (baby-food jars are the perfect size)
· 8 tea lights
· Glue
· Pliers (with wire cutter)
· A rolling pin
How to
1. Start by making the chandelier “chain”. Cut a length of sculpture wire about 46cm long. Bend one end of this around a rolling pin to form a hook from which to suspend the structure from a tree branch or beam, for example. Use the pliers to make a small hook at one end from which to hang the chandelier.
2. To make the chandelier’s main frame, cut four lengths of sculpture wire, approximately 20cm each in length. Use a large bowl to bend each piece into an arch. Take two of the pieces and make a cross, securing them in the centre with craft wire. Repeat this process with the second pair and then join the two crosses (again with wire) so that you create an eight-pointed star shape.
Steps 3, 4 and 5 here.

Dubai City Guide:
Exclusive Acrylic, a partner of Emirates Investment and Development PSC (Emivest), has created the world’s largest acrylic chandelier which will be installed at the Sports City Tower in Doha next month. Measuring approximately 10m x 5m, this cone shaped chandelier features a cutting edge, computer controlled LED lighting system capable of running custom lighting programs and sequences.
Mr. Bodhi Brandes, Executive Director of Exclusive Acrylic, enthusiastically noted: “The chandelier will light up the skies of Doha when it is installed on top of the spectacular Sports City Tower - Doha’s tallest tower - which was converted into a massive torch during the recent Asian Games. It has been chemically bound with the help of smaller pieces brought together to create near invisible joints. Once installed, it will make a striking statement for Qatar skyline.”
The lights within the chandelier can be exposed and serviced by electronically lowering the cone tip to the floor. The cone itself has been designed as a pendulum which alleviates any forces that would be applied to it from the building’s own movement (which is said to be approximately 300mm – 500mm on a windy day).
