Combining LED lighting with indoor air purification using living plants, the fabulously innovative Green Light by Natalie Jeremijenko, Amelia Amon, Will Kavesh of the Experimental Design Lab is a chandelier, terrarium, and air filter all in one. The system brings clean air, light, AND greenery to your home- three things no one should live without.
The Green Light design kicks off first of our many sneak peaks from this year’s quickly-approaching HauteGreen 2007 exhibition. This smart carbon-neutral system improves the internal air quality of a given room using an integrated solar panel to power a super-efficient LED bulb to stimulate plants of high air filtrating varieties. The entire system is designed with products and parts that are both recycled AND recyclable. Plus, the bulb from the unit provides a lovely glow to any room, giving a new meaning to the words ‘Green Light.’

Moritz Waldemeyer is a master of mechatronics — a job that’s equal parts mechanical engineering and electronics — and the go-to tech guru for some of the biggest names in design (think Zaha Hadid, Ron Arad and Hussein Chalayan).
From robotic dresses to futuristic kitchens, Waldemeyer is known for wiring the low-tech, mundane objects of daily life. He once designed a smooth-surfaced Corian table with 2,500 integrated LEDs on which passersby could play Pong.
“I specialize in using engineering in art and design, so I get to do all the really crazy projects,” says Waldemeyer. “People come to me whenever they have a mad idea and they’re not quite sure how to deal with it.”

The price tag on the gaudy gold chandelier from Frank Sinatra’s suite? A cool $4,250.
The pink leather banquette from a high rollers’ lounge that screams Zsa Zsa Gabor? Available for $625.
And the oddly shaped electric blue armchairs that would have been perfect in George Jetson’s living room? Priced to move at $425.
Those and other pieces of late 20th-century casino kitsch are expected to draw thousands of people to the defunct Sands Casino Hotel today for the public opening of an “everything must go” sale.
Invited guests - hoteliers, restaurateurs and other industry insiders - got first crack yesterday at the items being offered, everything from $2,250 canopy beds to $2 logoed bottle openers.
In the former baccarat pit sat metal shelves piled high with cake pans, metal pitchers, mixing bowls and baking trays from the casino hotel’s kitchens. Nearby were 200 television sets (starting at $89).
Over in the old slot machine parlor… read on.

This Chandelier Mamounia is full of the richness and warmth common to most Moroccan decor, and each lantern is hand made of brass, tin, Moorish glass, and other elements. Light glows out from behind the colored panels and intricately designed hand punched details, which creates a look the website describes by saying “only when lit in a darkened room can their beauty be truly appreciated.”
Definitely not a piece that will go just anywhere, or with just anything, but if you’ve got the right place it could really “make” a room.

The chandelier located in the foyer was a present to the Mansion from Paris, France and is over 200 years old. The chandelier was sent in separate pieces. It took 3 months to wire the pieces together. The chandelier had to be wired for electricity. There are 38 candles that provide light for the foyer.
