Artisans assemble hand-cut capiz shells, edged in metal, to create these blooming flower chandeliers that radiate like shimmering stained glass, lit from within. They come in two sizes to group or hang individually from the ceiling.
Nancy Meheman came in one day and bought a beautiful selection of beads. She was purchasing them to string on an antique chandelier and this is the result! Nancy’s friend Monika Burnham helped her with bead selection, design and creation.
Nancy says she absolutely loves the chandelier and it is the focal point of her home. The center bead on the longest strand is a lampworked vase bead by Carol Fonda, among the other beads are Venetian and Czech lampworked beads and resin beads from Indonesia.
Designed by Verner Panton in 1969, the Spiral chandelier (SP Series) was inspired by the wind chimes traditionally made by fishermen in the Andaman Islands. The movement of air caused the spirals to produce a soft tinkling noise and reflect the light. The SP01 pendant has a small canopy, four-ring mental frame from which one cluster of silver cellidor (plastic) spiral elements are suspended from.

But according to the owner of Mabley Handler Interior Designers, which is located in Water Mill, Jennifer Mabley and Austin Handler, chandeliers can now be turn into modern designs. These chandeliers can be crafted in shapes that are abstract with sulk drum shades. Their colors can be turn into dramatic that can create a focal point instead of a light source.
